Hello NG,
I'm planing a climbing trip to Jordan's Wadi Rum in november, and there are some questions, where I wonder if someone knows:
1. Wadi Rum: is it necessary to bring and sleep in a tent (when you are out in the dessert) because of bugs, scorpions or snakes? And how about sandstorms, are they common?
2. Trekking in the Wadi Rum area (and to Aqaba): it is a approx. 70 km trek, and we wonder if there are dwells on the way, which we can use and how do we find them and how do we get the water out of it? Or where do I get information about getting water in this areas? We don't want to start carrying more than 6 kg water each with us.
3. How about the small village of Wadi Rum, is there nice accommodation beside the resthouse? And is it possible to buy food in the village, or do we have to go to the junktion for foodstores?
Thanks for help, Jules Bach

Hello Jules.
I was there in 2000 and things may have changed until now... > > I'm planing a climbing trip to Jordan's Wadi Rum in november, and there > are some questions, where I wonder if someone knows: > > 1. Tents: We found a (nearly death) scorpion. We brought our tents to store our stuff in. There were a lot of dogs nearby the village Wadi Rum and perhaps you wake up with ones tongue in your face. It was not necessary to bring tents as they (old models) were rent at the resthouse. > > 2. Sorry, no info.

Accomodation: ??? Foodstores: All basic stuff is available there. A friend of mine bought all in Wadi Rum. Also some small restaurants served good meals.
Enjoy your trip and have fun, Chris
